Test shoot - Photographer Rhiannon Kitson - Model - Ailsa

Was a sunny day in Oxford City Centre and I got together with Ailsa to do some shots on location in the city of Oxford. Love location
shoots and was real pleasure to work outside on this beaut of a day. Ailsa was going to be wearing a maroon dress and as it was
a lovely day we were going for a nice natural look. I teamed the hair of natural waves (a good blow dry was given and velcro rollers
set) with some soft pink eye make up, using the shade 'passionate' by mac. Only a small amount of this was used in the corners
then blended for a soft effect.

As we were out shooting, we arrived at a old vintage looking cinema back drop and so I pinned up Ailsas hair into a bun, she put on
her sunglasses and scarf and it had a glamourous look to the setting. Bit windy so after putting it up, I sprayed into place. Touching
up the make up leaving it the same as before.

I then took it back down again for some more natural shots, added a bit of backcombing with my faithful paul mitchell backcombing brush (a can't live without product for my hair kit!)

Hayley Miller Designs - Handbag Shoot

Handbag Shoot - Client Hayley Miller.

I was called by client Hayley Miller who was shooting in Oxford for her new handbag range launching on the 15th May. Check out her gorgeous bags at www.hayley-miller.co.uk
I did both hair and make up for the girls, models were Emily Barron and Hannah Barron and Jenna Hollins. Another fantasic sunny March day (yes, March!) in Oxford parks and the setting was great for an Alice in Wonderland editorial shoot.

Hannah
Make up was a soft pink eye again using MAC's 'passionate' and adding Bare Minerals 'guilded taupe' shadow for a bit of shimmer, with natural looking falselashes by Rimmel and adding a couple of individuals in the corner to create S/S12 trend of 'pretty' make up. Thinking of Louis Vuitton S/S 12 - really pretty make up.

Jenna
Jenna's make up brief was a heavy eye and candy lips. So the traditional smokey eye method was used but by using a bit of 'Beauty marked' and 'Cranberry' by MAC mixed with 'carbon' it have a red/purple shimmer in the inner corners. Lips were 'angel pink' lipstick by Maxfactor

Emily
Emily's brief was a strong liner and maybe a baby blue colour around the eyes. So I used a really sky blue shadow along the lids
and bottom lids, then used my Bobbi brown faithful gel liner over the top. Again individual lashes in the corners were applied.

With all the girls, on the cheeks I used either Benefits 'Coralista' for a dewy complexion or bronzer with Benefit's 'girl meets pearl' to highlight the cheek area.

Will post photos as soon as I get them but here is a sneak peek!....

Barbara Leatham Photography - Vintage Icons Collection

Barbara Leatham Photography - Studio shoot for Vintage Icons Collection for Alex McGregor

Went along to client Alex's lovely home in Watford for a shoot for Vintage collection clothing. Model was Vicky Chapman and it was
a beautiful day to be shooting outside. First dress was a lovely red lace dress, for the hair I used a small curling wand to curl, then
brush through the curls to create waves, add serum and spray and the hair was ready to go.
Make up I used:

MAC Studio Fix - NC25 - Foundation
Concealer - Lancome
Mascara - Rimmel False effect lashes - I did use some individual lashes in the corner of the eyes to make them pop.
Liner - Gel liner - Bobbi Brown in Black
Brows - MAC brow pencil 'Lingering'
Lips - liner 'spice' by MAC and 'fatal red' - maybelline (for look 1)

For look two, it was a black dress, then changed to trousers and sheer blouse. The make up was then toned down and using a slight blue shadow in the eye to give it some colour

Fashion Show - Get London Reading Campaign

With Mahreen and Marina - Fashion Show 'Get London Reading' Campaign.

On Saturday 27th January, Mahreen asked me and Marina to come along and help out with the hair and make up for a charity fashion show hosted by the London model network for 'Get London Reading' Campaign. I travelled with Mahreen on the day and we were there for 2pm and had a look
at the dresses models were going to be wearing to decide on looks. Designers Grace Bardin and Melanie Jackson had some lovely sparkly/glamourous dresses so we decided on smokey eyes (different variations of colours depending on the model) and nude lips.
They were after a natural look to start with whilst the models were modelling jewellary and casual wear. As the evening went on, the hair started to look more high fashion.
I did 2 models for a full hair and make up, and then 2 of the dancers for just hair.

Hair Only Shoot - Model Laurie Paine Photographer Sabrina Lee. MUA - Nikki Cotterell

Hair Only Shoot - Photographer Sabrina Lee, Model Laurie Paine.

I went along to Reading to meet photographer Sabrina Lee. She is an amazing fashion photographer and we were working with model Laurie Paine. She was absolutely lovely to work with, this was hair only but thats more experience for me (even though its always nice to say you have done both!) But MUA Nikki was absolutely lovely, we had a good little team! Laurie has experience and was on the 2011 series of Britain's Next Top model (I love that show so got to ask her about it!)
The shoot was to provide shots for dress designers Agnes Mira Rose (beautiful dresses!) for her S/S 12 collection. First dress was a short, white dress. For the hair I sectioned first and straightened it (using my Paul Mitchell heat protection spray) Then sectioned again and
twisted the back bit up and out of the way. With one of the sides I rolled this up towards the top of the head to create a roll. If you check outthe catwalks, retro updos are in as are curled pieces of hair up to the side.
White is also a big trend for spring E.G Louis Vitton S/S 12 so the first dress went really well!
Second hair look was slicked back to one side (the opposite side due to the next yellow dress being one shouldered and didn't want hair covering it or having too much going on on one side. I put this in a pony tail, and backcombed sections of the ponytail and pinned to the head.
Final hair look was red carpet curls/waves for the final elegant black gown.

Bath Tub Shoot - Reading. Make up by Me. Hair by stylist Samm McCarthy

Desperately Seeking Susan Fashion Theme Shoot, hair stylist Samm McCarthy - Reading

Hair stylist Samm McCarthy asked me to come along and be the make up artist for an idea he wanted for a photoshoot. The theme was a Madonna 80s look 'Desperately seeking Susan' in a bath tub. But a modern/fashion twist to it. He sent me the link for what sort of make up he was after, which was dark eye make up and a bold red lip. He teamed my make up with curled hair by using GHD's.
The shoot went really well and love the pictures!

Make Up Used:

Benefits Pore Professional
MAC Studio fix foundation NC15
Green People Concealer
MAC Powder Plus NC15
Blush - Bare Minerals
Eye Make up - MAC Carbon and a shimmery grey from brand 'MUA' - the carbon was also put under the eyes as well as a liner
False lashes - Eyelure
Illamasqua black eye liner pencil
Lipstick - Maybelline's 'Fatal Red'

Phil Hawley and Ailsa Naumann shoot

I had the pleasure of making up Ailsa again for a test shoot with Phil Hawley. We wanted quite a fashion look as these were being put forward to hairdressers.
As their colour scheme is mainly beiges/greys, very neutral colour, I picked out one of Ailsa's dresses she could wear which was a beige/pinky colour. I teamed this with big hair, a bit like a beehive, see picture below from Diane Von Furstenburg for an idea of where I was going with the hair. But I put it all up. Teamed with glowing skin and shimmery cheeks, a strong red/pink lip. (I mixed Maybelline's fatal red and pink together)

Inspiration

The pictures!

From the first look, we decided to take it onto another look as we had time, so I took down the beehive hair, and kept the back ponytail up as it was (after combing out slightly), then
rolled it, pinned and pulled it slightly. With the front two sections, I rolled them in different directions to get a 40's vibe to go with the red lip. I added a little bit more eyeshadow on the
eyelid to emphasise them, and voila, we had look 2!

Henna Course - With Mahreen Hussain

The amazing Mahreen held a Henna masterclass in which me and Holly went along to, to find out how to do henna. Last year we had a very basic masterclass where we learnt about where Henna came from and how to apply it. But this was a more in depth class where we learnt about the shapes and styles to use and how to link them. We started off on a bit of paper and making notes. We need to keep practising on paper (and friends when they let us!) before on a client. Here is the design Mahreen did on me, was great to watch how she does it and it all made sense as this was done at the end of the class!
